A classic Jewish staple of potatoes.
Potato Kugel With Cheese - Potato Pudding
- 4 Eggs
- 6 Tbls Chicken fat, butter, or light vegetable oil
- 1 Large mild onion grated
- 3 lbs Potatoes
- 1/2 lbs Gouda cheese
- 3/4 lbs Cabbage cut into ribbons
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Lightly beat eggs with salt, pepper, fat/oil of choice, grated cheese, and grated onion.
Cut cabbage into ribbons.
Peel and grate potatoes (helps if you have a food processor!).
Combine potatoes with cabbage and egg mixture into a wide and shallow baking dish brushed with oil.
Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 1 hour. Then turn oven to 450°F (230°C) and bake for 5-10 min or until brown. Serve hot.
