Iraqi Apple Preserve

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Apples Coxes, Golden Delicious, Granny Smiths
  • 1 Lemon juiced
  • 3 1/3 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Rose water

Instructions

  1. Peel, cut in half, and core apples. Drop in water with lemon juice.

  2. Boil sugar in 1 cup of water with remaining lemon juice for 10 - 15 minutes or until very thick.

  3. Drain apples and place in syrup. Simmer for 20 - 30 minutes or until very tender.

  4. Add rose water and stir. Lift out apples and place in serving bowl or jar. Pour syrup over apples. Serve with heavy cream, yogurt, or icecream.
